Dysuria, or in simpler words, burning urination or painful urination an unpleasant experience in which people suffer from a sensation like burning after urination. It is often the first sign that something is wrong in your bladder or urinary tract.

If we talk about the main causes of having a burning sensation with urination, then the causes can be infectious (including sexually transmitted infections, or STDs such as gonorrhea and chlamydia) and noninfectious conditions. Reports have it that the most common cause is the bacterial infection of the urinary tract which adversely affects the bladder.

It is often accompanied by other symptoms of urinary tract infections (UTI), which includes:
  • Dysuria (painful urination), and
  • Blood in the urine,
  • It can occur after intercourse in women when infection is present.
  • During the pregnancy as well, burning or painful urination can be an alarming sign of a urinary tract infection.
